Distinguishing between different spaces and their characteristics is important
for two reasons: 1) it allows teachers to check that they offer a wide and
appropriate range of learning opportunities, and 2) to ensure learners are
supported in benefiting from the affordances of each learning space. I created
a small interactive tool available at the link above, that allows you to
select parameters for eight dimensions of learning spaces (location,
synchronicity, flexibility, setting, grouping, instruction, control, and
formality) and that describes the resulting learning space.
