Description:

Job title: Linguistic consultant

Location: Remote/WFH

Requirements: US citizen or full work authorization (no F1 visa sponsorship
available)

Speciality: Linguistics, computational grammars, translation

Description: We are seeking linguist consultants for work with German. The
consultant will assist with writing grammars, checking translations,
transcribing native speech, and designing annotation guidelines. The contract
will be for ~40 hours of work total.

To apply: Please e-mail resume and a brief description of any experience with
translation, with computational grammars, and with linguistic annotation.

Responsibilities: The consultant will assist in writing computational grammars
for domain-specific projects to ensure accuracy in grammar and vocabulary.
Additional responsibilities will be to verify translations are accurate,
transcribing audio data, and assistance in adapting Natural Language
Understanding schemas into the target language.

Qualifications:
- Native fluency in German
- Native or near-native fluency in English
- Academic experience in linguistics, especially morphology, syntax, and
dialect sociolinguistics (undergraduate work is acceptable)
- Competency with general computing as it applies to text editors, Unix
systems, and VPN

Preferred qualifications:
- Academic or professional experience with translation

Time commitment: 10-20 hours a week

Compensation: $20/hour

Project length: Approximately 40 hours, depending on how long the candidate
will take to complete all assignments.
