Description:

‘Interactions between Dynamic Effects and Alternative-Based Inferences in the
Study of Meaning’ (https://dynamicalternatives.wordpress.com/), jointly funded
by AHRC and DFG. The post will be based in the Department of Linguistics at
UCL for the first half (18 months) therefore the contract with UCL will be 18
months. Thereafter it will be based in the Institute for Linguistics at the
University of Frankfurt for the second half (18 months). 

The research team is led by Dr. Clemens Steiner-Mayr (Göttingen, Co-PI) and
Dr. Yasutada Sudo (UCL, Co-PI) together with four Co-Investigators, Professor
Richard Breheny (UCL), Professor Cornelia Ebert (Frankfurt), Dr. Jacopo Romoli
(Bergen), and Professor Markus Steinbach (Göttingen).

The post holder will work with the team on the aims of developing a formal
theory of the interaction between dynamic effects and alternative-based
inferences by identifying new theoretical possibilities and exploring ways to
test them against experimental data as well as data from gesture and sign
languages.

The appointee will take up their post on 1st July 2021 or as soon as possible
thereafter. Funds are available for three years in the first instance.
