Description:
Pending budgetary approval, the Department of Linguistics of the University of
Pittsburgh seeks a Visiting Lecturer (non-tenure-track) for the academic year
2022-2023. Duties will include teaching 6 undergraduate courses (18 credits, 3
courses each semester for 2 semesters). The appointment is for 8 months, from
September 1, 2022, through April 30, 2023. Note that Fall Term classes start
on August 29, 2022, and classes are expected to be conducted in person. This
is a temporary replacement position without the possibility of renewal.
The appointee will have primary responsibility for teaching LING 1000
Introduction to Language, and a subset of 2-4 of the following courses,
depending on qualifications:
LING 1441 Field Methods
LING 1578 Phonetics
LING 1773 Morphology
LING 1777 Syntactic Theory
LING 1267 Sociolinguistics
Minimum requirements:
- PhD or ABD in Linguistics at the time of appointment
- Demonstrated experience in teaching similar courses at higher education
level
- Ability to teach in person in Pittsburgh during the academic year.
