Specialty Areas: Cognitive Science; Computational Linguistics; Philosophy of Language; Pragmatics; Semantics; Syntax
Description:
The Department of Linguistics at the Heinrich-Heine-Universität in Düsseldorf
(Germany) invites applications for two Lecturer (post-doc) positions in
semantics to begin October 1, 2022.
A secondary specialization in pragmatics is necessary, and one or more of the
related fields (syntax, philosophy of language, computational linguistics, or
another area of cognitive science) as well as experience with empirical and
experimental methods and statistical data analysis is desirable.
The successful candidate will conduct research in the domain of semantics, and
also pragmatics as well as in related research areas, participate in the
preparation of grant proposals, and teach two classes per semester in
semantics, pragmatics and logic at the BA, MA and PhD levels. The teaching
load is relatively light: classes take place only once a week, and in large
classes teaching assistants are tasked with grading; and there is ample
support with instructional materials, technology and other resources to
facilitate instruction. Knowledge of German is not necessary.
The start date is October 1, 2022, and the initial appointment is for one year
(with the possibility of extension). Salary is on the German scale TV-L E13,
%100.
Candidates must have completed a Ph.D. degree (or an equivalent degree) by the
time of application. Applications for this position should be submitted
electronically in one .pdf file to the application email address below. The
application should include a cover letter, a CV, a brief statement of research
interests (up to 2 pages), links to papers, or electronic versions thereof.
