Description:

The Department of Linguistics at the University of Konstanz is looking for
support for its departmental IT needs, including the LingLab infrastructure
platform. This includes a Computational Lab, a Phonetics Lab and a Baby Speech
Lab. Support is needed for the installation and maintenance of servers,
including IT-security and user management, the development and extension of
experimental hardware and software, maintenance and ordering of hardware,
organizing a lending system for audio and multimedia hardware and, depending
on the candidate’s profile, the instruction of students as to the recording
and potential manipulation of speech signals.

The position can be up to E11 on the German salary scale and requires at least
a BA in Computer Science or in a related field. For E11 (rather than E10), an
additional 3 years of work experience in this area is required. We work with
various Operating Systems in the department, including Mac, Linux and Windows.
Knowledge of these and of server structures and data management is required.
Interest in supporting online experiments is a plus. Since most of the
university and departmental administration takes place in German, we require a
very good knowledge of German as well as some knowledge of English.
