Meeting Description:
The Spanish Society for Medieval English Language and Literature (SELIM) and
the local organising committee invite members of the Society and all other
scholars interested in the field to participate in the 32nd International
Conference of SELIM, to be hosted by the Department of Modern Languages of the
University of La Rioja from September 14 to 16 2022.
Under the title New approaches to Early English: Challenges in the
Digitisation Era, the organisers welcome papers dealing with any aspect of
medieval English language and literature and particularly encourage the
submission of papers that offer new readings or perspectives on mediaeval
English texts, as well as new approaches and analytical techniques. Topics
include, but are not limited to:
- Anglo-Latin literature
- Corpus compilation and corpus-based analysis
- Digital humanities
- Historical languages and information technologies
- Language contact and language variation
- Latin tradition in medieval English literature
- Manuscripts, texts and cybertexts
- Medieval England culture
- Old and Middle English dialectology
- Old and Middle English lexicology and lexicography
- Old and Middle English literature
- Old and Middle English morphology
- Old and Middle English phonology
- Old and Middle English syntax

The conference will be organised in four thematic panels:

Scholars interested in offering 20-minute papers (followed by a 10-minute
discussion) must send a 300-word abstract (excluding references) in electronic
format (please use this MSWord template) to the corresponding panel
coordinator before February 15, 2022.
Acceptance of proposals will be confirmed by March 31, 2022. References should
comply to the latest APA format (7th edition). Should you have any doubts
regarding panel adscription, please send your proposal to the organising
committee at 2022selimconference at gmail.com.
Publication
A selection of contributions will be edited by the organisers and submitted to
a major international press.
