Description:

Claira is looking for a computational linguist to join its technical team. The
focus of the role is on the development and deployment of NLP models and
methods to provide software solutions to financial institutions. The role is
responsible for liaising with product, annotation, and engineering, and is
ultimately responsible for successful product delivery to performance criteria
and on schedule. The role also must also engage in research and development of
further capabilities to improve Claira’s core technology. A successful
candidate must demonstrate programming ability, familiarity with machine
learning, and theoretical knowledge. 

Responsibilities:
 - Develop statistical and rule-based models for information extraction and
classification of financial contracts
 - Work with software engineers to ensure code is written to production
standard
 - Contribute theoretically and practically to the development of novel NLU
capabilities.
 - Perform syntactic / semantic analysis to inform analyses and methods

Essential Qualifications:
 - Python (minimum 5 years experience)
 - Prior NLP experience and familiarity with spacy
 - Prior machine learning experience and familiarity with sklearn
 - MA or higher in linguistics / computational linguistics (emphasis on syntax
and semantics), or equivalent experience designing or developing novel
solutions in NLP

Preference will be given to candidates with experience in the following areas:
 - Financial or legal domains
 - Demonstrated research and development experience or equivalent publication
record
 - Software development experience / substantial prior interaction with
engineering in a development setting
 - Strong language backgrounds in any of the following: French, Japanese,
German, Arabic
