Description:

The Faculty of Education at The University of Hong Kong (HKU) is
internationally recognized for work in different areas of education. HKU is
ranked 5 for the subject ‘Education’ among world universities by Times Higher
Education (THE) university ranking. 

In the current round of HKU doctoral admission, support is available for one
PhD student at the Faculty of Education with research interests in critical
approaches to applied linguistics and English language education. (In
addition, outstanding applicants can also apply for generous scholarships
through HKU Presidential PhD Scholar Programme and Hong Kong PhD Fellowship
Scheme).   

Requirements:
 - A Master’s degree in a relevant field awarded by a recognized university 
 - A research proposal for a prospective PhD study
 - Demonstrated strong ability of academic English (writing in particular) 

Preferred attributes:
 - Experience of research related to critical applied linguistics and English
language education
 - Scholarly experiences such as journal publications on related topics
 - Professional experiences related to language education
