Hosted by the University of Guelph’s School of Languages and Literatures in
Guelph, Ontario, Canada, the 10th International Conference on Second Language
Pedagogies (SLPC10) will connect SLPC’s past (9 editions) to its future.

With a focus on “Looking Back and Moving Forward,” the 10th edition of SLPC
will explore pedagogical approaches, research-informed practices, and
scholarly research that focuses on language learning as they relate to current
post secondary education contexts.

“LOOKING BACK AND MOVING FORWARD”/« REGARDS EN ARRIÈRE POUR ALLER EN AVANT »

Dates of the Conference: May 15-16, 2023
Conference Location: University of Guelph, Guelph, Ontario, Canada 
Official Conference Languages: English and French
Submission Deadline for Proposals: October 15, 2022
Acceptances announced by: December 15, 2022

Hosted by the University of Guelph’s School of Languages and Literatures in
Guelph, Ontario, Canada, the 10th 
International Conference on Second Language Pedagogies (SLPC10) will connect
SLPC’s past (9 editions) to its future. 
With a focus on “Looking Back and Moving Forward,” the 10th edition of SLPC
will explore pedagogical approaches, 
research-informed practices, and scholarly research that focuses on language
learning as they relate to current post secondary education contexts.

SLPC10 provides the opportunity to present empirical or theoretical research,
as well as create opportunities for further 
collaboration on topics related (but not limited) to:

* New applications of theories and approaches related to language learning and
applied linguistics
(sociocultural theories, plurilingual pedagogies, translanguaging,
multidisciplinary approaches, linguistic 
perspectives, etc.) 

* Fostering new language literacies and sustainable competencies
* Building diversity, inclusivity, and equity in language education
* Integrating career readiness and social justice issues in language education
* Innovations in course and curriculum design (technology, interaction,
learning communities, etc.)
* Decolonizing the language curriculum
* Indigenous language education
* Interconnectedness between language and other expressions of culture
* Transforming evaluation, assessment, and feedback practices

Proposal submission:

Proposals (in English or French) of maximum 300 words, title and references
excluded, on the above‐mentioned or additional topics related 
to the general theme of the conference “Looking Back and Moving Forward” are
welcomed for:

- papers (20 minutes)
- panels (60 minutes, 3‐4 presenters) 
- interactive workshops (60 minutes)

Abstracts must be submitted by October 15, 2022, before 11:59 p.m. EST via
Easy Chair. To submit a proposal, 
authors must be registered with EasyChair (registration is free):

Proposals will undergo a double-blind peer reviewed process. Results will be
announced by mid-December.
