Meeting Description:

We are delighted to announce that the 1st FLEUR annual conference will
take place on Friday 8th September 2023.

This first conference will be fully online, but we intend to meet in
person in the future.

The conference is open to all teachers of French in Higher and Further
Education in the UK: those who teach in a language department, a
language centre, an Alliance française or an Institut français, and
who have an interest in the scholarship of the teaching of the
language.

The conference will be an opportunity for us to come together to share
practice, pedagogies, research and reflections. It will also enable us
to get to know one another, present our association and build our
network together as well as kickstart various working groups and
finalise the executive committee.

Attendance to the event will be free to FLEUR members. The cost for
non-members will be £20. Please visit fleurnetwork.org

The conference title is Sustainability

The main themes and subthemes for the conference are:

Sustainability of French teaching and learning

Equality, diversity and inclusion


Sub-themes:

Competence-based approach to teaching and learning

Content-based teaching and learning

Decolonising French

French variation

Mediation and intercultural communication

Assessment and feedback

Interdisciplinarity and collaborations

(Virtual) exchanges


Plenary lecture/ keynote:

Anne Abeillé, Professor in Linguistics at Université Paris Cité,
co-editor of La Grande Grammaire du français with Daniele Godard
(2022) who recently co-signed Le Tract des linguistes.

We will confirm the second keynote closer to the conference day.

Call for Papers:

Submission guidelines:

Please submit abstracts in French of up to 300 words indicating the
format your contribution will take (paper, round-table, fully formed
panels, flash presentation, …) by July 1st, along with a short bio at:
abstract at fleurnetwork.org

We are aiming for notification of acceptance in the second half of
July.
