2nd Call for Papers:
The 27th Workshop on the Structure and Constituency of the Languages
of the Americas (WSCLA) will take place at the University of Toronto
from April 26-28 2024.
Abstracts are invited for papers on any Indigenous language(s) of the
Americas, and in any area of formal linguistics, including phonetics,
phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, and pragmatics. Formal
analysis can be presented within any theoretical framework. Papers
addressing historical, sociolinguistic, or experimental topics from a
formal perspective are also welcome.
We particularly encourage papers that connect formal linguistic
research with work on Indigenous language revitalization, given the
current UNESCO International Decade of Indigenous Languages (IDIL)
2022-2032. As part of the conference, there will also be a special
session on ethical issues when working with Indigenous language users,
featuring invited speakers from local Indigenous communities.
Invited speakers:
- Anja Arnhold, University of Alberta
- Ryan DeCaire, University of Toronto
- Karin Michelson, SUNY Buffalo
- Jaime Perez, UCSB
- Rodrigo Ranero, UCLA
- Mskwaankwad Rice, University of Minnesota
