The main theme:
Motivation in language
Motivation in language, seen as the influence of a whole range of
factors on any dimension of the linguistic unit, is one of the
important research areas explored within the cognitive linguistics
enterprise. It can be traced at all levels of linguistic organisation,
and characterised from all kinds of cognitive perspectives:
socio-cultural, embodied, communicative, historical, experiential,
psychological, or any other. Hence we encourage submissions from
scholars who examine any facet of this issue.
Besides motivation in language, we also invite scholars who explore
any other topic in the area of cognitive linguistics and want to share
the results of their recent studies.
Call for Papers:
Abstract submission
To submit an abstract, please register online at:
https://formularze.us.edu.pl/form/index/4460 between January 1, 2024
and April 14, 2024.
Abstracts should be of no more than 300 words in length, references
included (plus 3-4 keywords). They should indicate the scope and aims
of your research, its methodology and, possibly, the results. Please
do not include your name and affiliation in the abstract. If you need
to refer to yourself, please use “AUTHOR” instead of your name. If you
want to submit an abstract for a particular theme session, please
include this information at the top of the abstract, e.g. ABSTRACT FOR
THE THEME SESSION "TITLE OF SESSION".
Theme sessions
You are welcome to organize your own theme session within the
conference. The procedure is as follows:
- Send a proposal to ptjk2024 at us.edu.pl with the names and
affiliations of the session organisers, the session's theme, a
description of no more than 500 words, and the expected number of
participants, by January 21, 2024.
- You will be notified of the acceptance/rejection of the session by
January 31, 2024. If accepted, you can start inviting scholars to
participate in your session and to send their abstracts to the
conference. Abstracts to the session will be evaluated by both the
session organizers and the conference Scientific Committee.
- The conference organisers will contact the session organisers about
the preferred time of the session and the order of the presentations.
The languages of the conference are Polish and English.
Talks will be 20 minutes (plus 10 minutes for discussion).
