Meeting Description:
We are pleased to announce that the coordinated state project Lectura
fácil y lenguaje simplificado. Acceso multimodal al patrimonio
(LECPAT) (Easy-To-Read and Simplified Language: Multimodal Access to
Heritage will hold the International Conference on Easy-to-Read
Research in Seville on 23 and 24 January 2025. The conference will be
also followed virtually (only for registered attendees).
The results of the coordinated project LECPAT, consisting of two
subprojects, will be presented at the conference. These projects are:
The coordinating subproject Heritage for all through Translation and
Simplified Language: Developing a Query and Analysis Tool (TALENTO)
(PID2020-118775RB-C21, University of Granada), and the coordinated
subproject Pictograms and Visual Elements to Understand Heritage:
Intersemiotic Translation into Easy-to-Read (VISUALECT)
(PID2020-118775RB-C22, University Pablo de Olavide, Seville). In this
framework, researchers interested in this line of study are encouraged
to submit their proposals to participate with ongoing or completed
research on the theme of this conference.
Easy-to-Read has emerged as a new form of translation, generally
approached from an intralinguistic perspective, although it may also
be necessary in interlinguistic communication with receivers who have,
for example, reading comprehension difficulties derived from a
cognitive disability. In this sense, Translation Studies, together
with other disciplines such as Accessibility, have contributed to
defining this form of accessible translation which can include source
texts belonging to multiple textual genres or to any specialised
domain, as well as the paratexts and visual elements that form part of
the textual framework.
Call for Papers:
Researchers interested in this line of study are encouraged to submit
their proposals to participate with ongoing or completed research on
the theme of this conference.
Submission deadline: 20 December 2024
We accept contributions in order to present research findings which
are in line with the subject of this conference, particularly:
• Theoretical Foundations of the Easy-to-Read Translation
Process
• Easy-to-Read: Theoretical and Applied Research Lines
• Multimodal Aspects of Easy-to-Read
• Reception Studies of Easy-to-Read Texts
• Easy-to-Read and Artificial Intelligence
• Easy-to-Read in different languages and contrastive aspects
• Easy-to-Read and Specialised Languages
Registration is open until 15 January 2025. The conference will be
held on site, but it can also be followed virtually (only for
registered attendees).
