Meeting Description:

BieLeiCoS 2025 is a workshop on Comparative Syntax organized by
Bielefeld University and Leiden University. The two day workshop will
take place at Bielefeld University, Germany, on Thursday 22 May and
Friday 23 May 2025.

Invited speaker:  to be announced

Besides the regular conference, there will be two panel sessions on
Thursday afternoon: one on Comparative Syntax and Typology and one on
Corpus Methodology and Resources.

    Conference: Thur 22 / Fr 23 May 2025

The workshop will be preceded by a workshop on Wednesday May 21 on
“Creativity in Generative Syntax” (Details and separate call for
papers will follow)

2nd Call for Papers:

This is the second call for papers for BieLeiCos 2025 to take place in
Bielefeld University on May 22 and May 23.

We are happy to announce our invited speakers:

Conference: Theresa Biberauer  (University of Cambridge, Stellenbosch
University)
Panel on Comparative Syntax and Typology: András Bárány (The
University of Edinburgh)
Panel Corpus Methodology and Resources: Anne Breitbarth (Ghent
University)

For the general comparative syntax session, we invite abstracts for
30-minute presentations (+ 10 min discussion) on any topic in
comparative generative syntax.

We particularly welcome papers explicitly addressing synchronic or
diachronic properties of un(der)studied varieties and/or phenomena,
and papers concerned with more general questions, concerning, e.g.,
the relation between comparative syntax and linguistic typology,
syntax-interface mappings, and our understanding of language as a
cognitive system. We also encourage papers concerned with
methodologies for modern comparative generative syntax.

Call deadline: January 15, 2025 23:59 CET

Submission guidelines

Anonymous abstracts should not exceed 800 words excluding references.
Please use 12-point Times New Roman font, with single spacing and
margins of at least 2.54cm/1 inch. Abstracts should be uploaded in pdf
format via EasyAbstracts here:
