Description:
The department of Linguistics at the University of Illinois Chicago
(UIC) is accepting applications for a Lecturer in Linguistics
position. This is a full-time position, benefits eligible. The
position will begin August 16, 2024 and may be renewable.
Duties:
The Lecturer will teach a regular load of six courses per academic
year. The courses include undergraduate courses in various areas of
linguistics and its related areas (e.g. general introduction,
phonetics/phonology, morpho-syntax, semantics/pragmatics,
sociolinguistics, multilingualism). Other responsibilities for this
Lecturer position include holding office hours, advising students, and
participating in the intellectual life of the university.
Qualifications:
The candidate must have at least a Master’s Degree (Ph.D. in hand
strongly preferred) in a related field, along with experience teaching
linguistics and/or its related areas at the college level. Native or
near-native competence in English is required. Evidence of commitment
to students’ success and recruitment, and of participation in
departmental activities is desirable.

letters of recommendation and teaching videos that directly address
their experience with teaching in the relevant courses at the college
level.
