Open position: Three-year PhD fully-funded research assistantship
starting in August 2024
RA stipend: $ 16,000 / AY.
Deadline: Open until filled.
The School of Speech, Language, Hearing, and Occupational Sciences
(SLHOS) in the College of Health at the University of Montana is
offering a Research Assistantship (RA) Award for a doctoral student in
the Speech, Language, & Hearing Sciences PhD program, beginning Fall
2024. This RA award is funded by the Office of Research & Creative
Scholarship and the College of Health It is the intention of the
School of SLHOS to fund the RA position for a total of three (3)
years. Funding for subsequent years is not guaranteed. The RA will
receive a $16,000 stipend ($8000 per semester) for the 2024-2025
academic year. This funding includes a full-time university tuition
waiver. This award is contingent upon ongoing satisfactory academic
and research progress and requires that students register for a
minimum of nine (9) credits per semester during the academic year.
The project associated with this RA position focuses on the
neurobiology of bilingualism, psycholinguistics of grammatical overlap
and assessment of grammatical deficits in aphasia. The PhD
dissertation project will examine grammatical deficits in bilingual
aphasia.
Preferred background:
- Proficiency in Spanish or other non-English language
- A background in linguistics, communication sciences and disorders,
English as a second language, or similar
- A specialization in bilingualism, aphasiology, or syntax
- Knowledge of statistical analyses
- Experience with MRI
- Programming skills in Matlab and Python
