Lagos International summer school of Language (LISSL)

Host Institution: University of Lagos

Dates: 05-Aug-2024 - 30-Aug-2024
Location: Lagos

Focus: Learning Yoruba, Igbo, or Chinese can equip individuals with
valuable language skills for effective communication in specific
regions or communities. Summer schools allow learners to immerse
themselves in the language, improving their proficiency through
interactive activities, dialogues, and practical exercises.
Minimum Education Level: literacy in any Language.

Description:
The summer school program focuses on Yoruba, Igbo, and Chinese
languages. It encompasses the preservation of cultural heritage, the
promotion of multilingualism, the fostering of cultural exchange, and
the empowerment of future leaders. By embracing these languages and
the cultures they represent, we aim to create a transformative
educational experience that not only enhances linguistic abilities but
also nurtures cultural understanding, unilateral literacy and global
citizenship. Through this program, we envision a future where
linguistic and cultural diversity is celebrated, and individuals can
communicate across borders, fostering harmony, mutual respect, and
meaningful connections.

The programme is therefore, poised to provide specialist training in
Yoruba, Igbo and Chinese language and culture, to provide the
necessary manpower that will enable the nation to maximize the
multicultural universe as well as extend the frontiers of knowledge.
