Description:
Duties and Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be expected to:
- Teach up to 32 ECTS (320 hours per academic year); 24 ECTS (240
hours per academic year)*
- Design, coordinate, teach and assess English language modules (aimed
at levels B2/C1 of the CEFR), drawing on the latest developments in
Foreign Language Pedagogy as well as taking into account course
requirements and student learning outcomes.
- Supervise undergraduate dissertations.
- Serve as academic advisor to students.
- Maintain a minimum of three office hours per week
- Make effective use of technology to enhance classroom learning.
attend regular Departmental meetings.
- Facilitate extra-curricular multilingual and multicultural
activities, including the development of virtual language exchanges
and similar initiatives.
- Engage in professional development activities to maintain excellence
and quality standards.
* Candidates with a PhD in hand will be granted a reduction in
teaching load to enable them to pursue research
Required qualifications:
The successful candidate must have:
- Native or near-native linguistic ability in English.
- Experience in teaching English or a closely related discipline.
- Outstanding teaching skills.
- Substantial experience in curriculum design, review and development.
- A university degree in an area related to language.
Preferred qualifications:
Ideally, candidates should have:
- Experience in teaching English or a closely related discipline at
undergraduate level in a higher education institution.
- A Master’s degree in TESOL, CELTA, and/or experience teaching
English to foreign learners.
- A knowledge of Spanish/Catalan.
Candidates with expertise in one or more of the following areas are
welcome:
- Foreign Language Education
- Translation & Interpreting
- Computer Assisted Language Learning
- World Englishes
- Sociolinguistics
