Subject: Question on laryngeal spreading
Hello linguist friends, I am wondering if anyone has heard of any
attested examples of one of the following two situations:
1) Creaky voice phonation moves one syllable leftwards from its
underlying position.
ta.ta̰ > ta̰.ta
2) A glottal stop coda moves from the coda of one syllable into a
preceding syllable.
tak.taʔk > taʔk.tak
In the case of (2), I am not referring to local metathesis of glottal
stop with a preceding consonant, which I know is attested, at.ʔa >
aʔ.ta. I am looking for something more long-distance, spanning at
least 1 syllable. I have never seen any examples of either type of
spreading, which is why I think they are probably unattested, but I
would like to hear from people who work on language families other
than the ones I work on (I work on Dene and Siouan languages).
Thank you very much for your time,
Alex Jaker
