Meeting Description:

The First International Symposium on Contemporary Phonology will be
held on July 21st-22nd, 2024 at Beijing Language and Culture
University (Beijing, China). This symposium marks the first time such
an international symposium focused on phonology is held in China. The
symposium aims to provide a platform for scholars working in phonology
and related areas to exchange cutting-edge research. The symposium
includes invited talks by leading scholars, thematic group
presentations, and a meeting for the establishment of a Phonology
Special Interest Group in the Society for Modernization of the Chinese
Language.

Call for Papers:

The symposium themes focus on sounds and sound systems of language,
including theory and application in phonology, morphophonology,
prosody, phonetics, dialectology, language acquisition, nonlinear
phonology, non-segmental phonology, optimality theory and interfaces
between phonology and other language systems. Presentations are
scheduled for about 15-minute time slots (10-12 minutes for
presentation and 3-5 minutes for discussion) and may be given in
Chinese or English.
Abstracts may be written in Chinese or English and should not exceed
two pages in length (A4 pages) with default margins (top and bottom
2.54 cm, left and right 3.18 cm), Times New Roman, 12 pt,
single-spaced, including references, tables and figures. Abstracts
must be anonymous and should be submitted in both Word and PDF formats
to pho_asso at 163.com. The submission number per person is limited to
one single-authored abstract and one co-authored abstract. All
abstracts will be evaluated by two reviewers.
