Description:

The Department of Romance Languages and Literatures at Washington
University in St. Louis seeks to hire a full-time lecturer in Spanish
with expertise in Hispanic linguistics, on the teaching track,
starting in August 2024 for the 2024-2025 academic year.

This role requires duties equivalent to a full-time teaching load,
which includes a combination of teaching and other departmental
service and advising as appropriate.  Teaching-track faculty in
Romance Languages and Literatures regularly have an assignment of
three courses per semester in addition to a service component such as
course coordination.

Initial appointments at the rank of lecturer are renewed on an annual
basis, and reappointment is contingent upon a successful annual
evaluation and review. Teaching track faculty will not be evaluated on
or expected to engage in research or scholarship as part of their
appointment.

Qualifications:
Applicants are expected to have a Ph.D./terminal degree in Spanish or
a related field by the time of appointment. We seek a colleague able
to teach at all levels of our undergraduate program, including
elementary, intermediate, and advanced language and content courses
and upper-level courses with topics in linguistics, such as
introductory Hispanic linguistics, sociolinguistics, and upper-level
Spanish syntax, phonology, or both. Experience or interest in course
coordination is very welcome.
