Subject: Answering Strategies in Old French
The source I have consulted
(https://www.persee.fr/doc/roma_0035-8029_1894_num_23_90_5817)
indicates that it was possible in Old French to give a positive answer
by saying "o" alone or followed by the personal pronoun one would use
if answering with a full clause (i.e. "o je. / o tu. and the "famous"
o il, which evolved in contemporary French "oui" ) I am unable to
find an attested example to illustrate (and support) this statement.
Any personal pronoun would do, with a preference for "o il"!
Many thanks in advance for any help you could offer.
