Description:
The Departments of English and German are seeking a postdoctoral
fellow interested in researching heritage and/or minority language
acquisition and/or the various forms of language contact between a
dominant and a minority or heritage language. Given the research focus
of the host departments, these phenomena should be either investigated
in an Anglo-German context (i.e. either German or English playing the
role of the dominant language and the other language that of the
minority or heritage language) or the candidate should be able to
compare the interactions between a third language and a dominantly
German-speaking and a dominantly English-speaking environment.

Starting Date: September 2024, or by agreement
Employment Contract: fixed term, until December 2025, possibility of
extension
Salary: category A3 (Internal Wage Regulations of TUL) + project

What will be your job description?
- conducting original research in the area of heritage and/or minority
language acquisition, or other aspects of language contact in a
heritage/minority vs dominant language scenario
- collaboration with faculty members and fellow workers on
interdisciplinary projects related to the language acquisition and
language contact
- dissemination of research findings through publications in academic
journals ranked Q1 or Q2 in the Web of Science
- participation in the teaching of relevant language subjects (to the
extent of maximum 4x45 minutes per week)
- preparation and submission of grant applications in cooperation with
their mentor(s) and/or other faculty members
- consultations with graduate students
- engagement in departmental activities
We require:
- Ph.D. degree or its foreign equivalent (ISCED level 8) in the
relevant field of linguistics obtained at an educational institution
other than the Technical University of Liberec no later than five
years prior to the submission of an application
- a record of scholarly publications listed in the Web of Science
and/or Scopus, preferably in the area of language acquisition and/or
language contact
- demonstration of expertise in at least one linguistic area, e.g.
phonology, morphology, semantics or syntax
- previous experience in researching language acquisition and/or
language contact
- proficiency in a variety of linguistic methodologies, including
quantitative and qualitative analysis, as well as corpus linguistics
- good teaching skills
- proficiency in both English and German at least at CEFR-level C1,
preferably C2
- independence, flexibility in work, responsibility

university diploma need not be presented if the candidate is a native
speaker
