Job Posting: Assistant Professor (Emergency Appointment) in Applied
Linguistics
The Department of English at Central Connecticut State University
seeks a full-time Assistant Professor (one-year contract,
non-tenure-track) in Applied Linguistics with a focus on Phonology and
Methods in L2 Instruction.
Required Qualifications:
 - PhD or ABD in Linguistics, Applied Linguistics, L2 Acquisition, or
equivalent
 - Evidence of focus on Phonology and Methods in L2 Instruction (in
research or teaching)
 - Evidence of experience teaching at the university level
 - Ability to teach day and evening classes in person on the
university campus in New Britain, CT

Preferred Qualifications:
 - Evidence of interest and/or professional engagement in
Sociolinguistics and Educational Language Policy
 - Evidence of active and productive research activities relevant to
applied or theoretical linguistics
 - Evidence of commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and
inclusion in higher education, particularly as it relates to
linguistic diversity and multilingualism

Responsibilities:
 - Instructor in four courses per semester, including TESOL methods,
language acquisition, and graduate-level phonology
 - Creative activity, such as research, conference presentation, or
publication
 - Service to the department, university, and professional
organizations
