Description:

The Department of Linguistics at the University of Georgia is seeking
to hire a limited-term Assistant Professor for the 2024-25 academic
year, to begin August 1, 2024. This is a 9-month, full-time,
non-tenure-track position. We seek a candidate whose teaching and
research focuses on the uses of experimental methods to understand how
language is acquired, processed, and perceived. Teaching duties
consist of four courses (2 per semester, total of 12 semester hours),
ideally to include an introductory undergraduate course in
neurolinguistics (LING 3350 Language, Mind, and Brain), split-level
undergraduate/graduate courses in Psycholinguistics (LING 4105/6105)
and Quantitative Methods (LING 4400/6400), plus one course to be
determined, which can be related to the candidate’s specific research
interests. The successful candidate would also be expected to mentor a
small number of undergraduate and graduate students working on
independent research projects, as needed. Experience with EEG research
is desired. The Linguistics Laboratory at UGA has a 128-channel
BrainVision actiChamp+ EEG system and a 250Hz mobile, monitor-mounted
eye-tracker that can be used for personal research projects.

Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Linguistics or in a related discipline
in hand at the time of appointment.
