Meeting Description:

The conference brings together LSP practitioners who teach foreign
language courses across a wide range of scientific disciplines at
universities both locally and internationally. It provides an
excellent opportunity for participants to share their research
findings, discuss insights from their teaching practice, and reaffirm
their strong commitment to the LSP profession.

The oral presentations, workshops, and poster sessions will address
key issues in the theoretical and methodological aspects of LSP. These
include general aspects of LSP, terminological challenges, teaching
methodology, syllabus design, learning materials, assessment and
evaluation in LSP, English as a lingua franca, the professional
development of LSP teachers, and the socio-cultural context of LSP.

Registration and conference fees:

Early bird: 1 November 2024 – 31 December 2024
   Conference fee: 150 €
Standard registration: 1 January 2025 – 1 February 2025
   Conference fee: 180 €
The conference fee includes a conference kit, a certificate of
attendance, coffee breaks, conference dinner on the first conference
day, lunch on the second conference day and a guided tour of Split.

Abstract submission deadline: 14 October 2024 – 15 November 2024
Notification of abstract acceptance: 1 December 2024

We welcome talks, workshops and posters that present theoretical and
practical insights into the field of LSP including research studies,
case reports, project presentations, reports on teaching methods,
commentaries and opinions.
The thematic areas of the conference:
 - GENERAL ASPECTS OF LSP: genre analysis, discourse analysis, corpus
analysis, needs analysis
 - TERMINOLOGICAL CHALLENGES: theoretical aspects of terminology as a
discipline, terminological theories and their application, terminology
and lexicology, terminography and lexicography, psycholinguistics and
terminology acquisition, cognitive aspects of LSP teaching,
conceptualization and lexicalization in LSP teaching and learning,
acquisition of LSP terminology, translation in LSP
 - CHALLENGES IN TEACHING METHODOLOGY: LSP teaching in tertiary
education, distance teaching/learning, digital technologies in LSP
teaching, project-based learning in LSP communicative approach to LSP
teaching, multimodal approach to LSP teaching, teaching LSP to
students with visual impairment; deaf and hard-of-hearing students;
students with dyslexia and dysgraphia, content and language integrated
learning (CLIL)
 - SYLLABUS AND LEARNING MATERIALS: materials development, materials
evaluation, syllabus design, adapting syllabi and learning materials
to distance learning
 - ASSESSMENT AND EVALUATION IN LSP: testing, evaluation and
assessment (face-to-face, online)
 - ENGLISH AS A LINGUA FRANCA: internationalization of higher
education and LSP, English as a Medium of Instruction (EMI), English
as a global language of science in the context of non-native English
speakers’ needs.
 - PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT OF LSP TEACHERS: development of LSP
teacher competencies, research opportunities in LSP, LSP peer
collaboration and institutional support, content and language teacher
collaboration
 - LSP AND ITS SOCIO-CULTURAL CONTEXT: sociological and cultural
aspects of LSP, interdisciplinary aspects – synergy of the subject
field and language
 - ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE IN THE ACADEMIC ENVIRONMENT: the use of AI
in ESP teaching and researching, ethical aspects of using AI tools in
the ESP context
 - OTHER LSP-RELATED TOPICS

Languages (abstracts, podium presentations and paper presentations):
Croatian, English, German, Italian or French.

Oral presentations will be allocated 20 minutes plus 5 minutes for
questions and discussion.
Workshops will be allocated 45 minutes.
