Description:

The Department of Spanish, Italian, and Portuguese at Penn State is
seeking applicants to our Ph.D. Program
(https://sip.la.psu.edu/graduate/graduate-hispanic-linguistics-program/).
In addition to our internationally recognized faculty and rich
training opportunities across subdisciplines and research
methodologies, students in our program can also obtain a Dual Title
Ph.D. In Spanish Linguistics and Language Science,
(https://sip.la.psu.edu/graduate/prospective-students/dual-title-doctoral-degree-in-spanish-and-language-science/)and
a graduate certificate in Linguistic Diversity Across the Lifespan
(https://lindiv.la.psu.edu). The Dual Title enriches students'
training in other areas of Language Science through coursework,
research rotations, and collaboration with colleagues across Penn
State's Center for Language Science (https://cls.la.psu.edu/):
Psychology, Communication Sciences and Disorders, and German and
Slavic Languages and Linguistics. The LinDiv certificate, funded by a
grant from the NSF, builds bridges between language science and
language-related technologies through cross-disciplinary coursework,
internship opportunities, and colloquia, preparing students to help
ensure that such technologies take into account the linguistic
diversity that characterizes language users in the world, whether this
is related to regional and social variation, bilingualism, or other
factors.

Our students are fully funded for 5 years through teaching and
research assistantships, or through the LinDiv program.

Applications are due on January 3, 2025.

Application Deadline: 03-Jan-2025

We encourage interested applicants to review faculty research
interests at https://sip.la.psu.edu/people/, and to contact faculty
members directly to discuss their interest.
