The Department of Chinese Language Studies of the Faculty of
Humanities seeks applications for one full-time academic position at
the rank of Assistant Professor. We are looking for a highly qualified
and experienced candidate to join our strong and experienced academic
team specialising in Chinese linguistics and applied linguistics. In
order to echo with the Faculty's strategic development theme, we
invite applications in the field of Chinese language and digital
humanities.
The appointee will contribute to the development of the research
capacity of the University, including the strengthening of scholarship
in the relevant strategic research theme(s). Responsibilities will
mainly include:

Conducting research and producing publications/research output in the
field of Chinese language education (L1 and/or L2).

Initiating research projects, securing external research grants
(e.g., ECS/GRF), and engaging actively in research-related activities.

Undertaking teaching duties at undergraduate and/or postgraduate
levels and/or supervision of students at varied levels.

Helping to strengthen the connection/partnership with local, national
and international/external academic and professional organisations.

Participating in and being an active member of the University’s
community at departmental and faculty levels.

The ideal candidate should have a Doctoral Degree in Chinese
linguistics or applied linguistics, with a strong track record in
relevant research and teaching experience. Knowledge and expertise in
digital humanities and e-learning will be an advantage.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Initial appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract.  Fringe
benefits include the University’s Voluntary Contributions to MPF
Scheme or a contract-end lump sum payment (totaling up to 15% of the
basic salary), leave, medical and dental benefits, and, where
applicable, housing benefits.
