Meeting Description:
On January 29th-31th 2025, a conference of the Network Linguistics &
Medicine (https://www.linguistik-medizin.net/) will take place at the
University of Bayreuth/Germany on the topic: Interdisciplinary
cooperation between linguistics and medicine - formats, challenges,
goals.
The possibilities and limits of interdisciplinary research
collaborations between linguistics and medicine, i.e.
institutionalised formats, their research findings and the general
interdisciplinary connectivity between linguistic and medical,
psychiatric and salutogenetic research and practice areas, are the
overarching theme of the planned conference, which is being organised
by the >Linguistics and Medicine< network at the University of
Bayreuth (Iakushevich/Ilg/Schnedermann 2019, 2021).
The aim of the planned conference is to discuss existing or planned
cooperative projects between linguistics and medicine, which, among
other things, use conversation analysis or discourse-analytical
methods in various medical fields (such as counselling, medical or
therapeutic conversations).
Proposals for papers are still possible until 30 September; please
send them to: alexandra.gross at uni-bayreuth.de
Call for Papers:
We invite researchers and practitioners from the helping professions
and linguistics to submit proposals for contributions on the following
two thematic areas:
- How are interdisciplinary collaborations in linguistics and medicine
implemented in practice? What are the opportunities, but
also potential challenges and barriers that need to be overcome?
(Gülich 2006, Becker/Schedl 2017, Ilg/Maatz 2022).
- What new findings are there from interdisciplinary research projects
from linguistics and medicine? What necessities arise from the
consideration of the specific needs of different areas and target
groups (for patients with different dimensions of diversity,
especially chronic impairments and disabilities, gender medicine, age,
migration, etc.?
Please send your contribution proposals (min. 250, max. 500 words
excluding references) by 30 September 2024 to:
