Full Title: Syntax, Semantics, and Pragmatics (Workshop @ÖLT49)

Date: 05-Dec-2025 - 08-Dec-2025
Location: Klagenfurt, Austria

Linguistic Field(s): General Linguistics; Pragmatics;
Psycholinguistics; Semantics; Syntax

Call Deadline: 01-Sep-2025

We are pleased to announce the third edition of the 'Current issues in
syntax, semantics, and pragmatics' workshop. Like in the previous
years, the workshop will be part of the ÖLT (49th Austrian Linguistics
Conference), which takes place December 5-8, 2025 in Klagenfurt,
Austria. The workshop aims to create opportunities for researchers to
discuss their original, unpublished work related to any of the fields
mentioned in its title as well as at the interfaces. We invite
submissions for oral presentations (20mins talk + 10mins discussion)
of theoretical and/or empirical contributions investigating the
syntax, semantics, or pragmatics of natural language phenomena. Since
this workshop is not limited to a particular topic or language
researched, we also strongly encourage submissions dealing with
linguistic phenomena from languages other than German.
Abstract Guidelines:
Abstracts should not exceed 300 words. References, formulas,
tables/figures, and glosses of examples from languages other than
English as well as the respective paraphrases are *not included* in
the word count. Examples (no matter whether glossed or not) should be
interspersed in the text, rather than collected at the end. Please
make sure to adhere to the unified style sheet for linguistics
(available here: https://clas.wayne.edu/linguistics/resources/style).
Submissions must be anonymous and must not reveal the identities of
the authors in any way. At most two submissions per (co-)author are
permitted, only one submission may be single-authored. Please send
your abstracts in PDF format to synsemprag.workshop at gmail.com no later
than September 1st, 2025.
Important Dates:
Abstract submission deadline: 1st of September 2025 (23:59 CEST)
Notification of decision: 15 September 2025
Conference: 5-8 December 2025
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact
synsemprag.workshop at gmail.com or mbutschety.ling at gmail.com at any
