UNESP Advanced School of Linguistics – UNALIN 2025
November 10–12, 2025 | UNESP/IBILCE, São José do Rio Preto, São Paulo,
Brazil
The Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNESP), São José do Rio Preto
campus, is proud to host the first edition of the UNESP Advanced
School of Linguistics – UNALIN 2025. This groundbreaking event marks
the first time UNESP organizes an international advanced school in
Linguistics, bringing together leading scholars from Brazil and abroad
to foster advanced training and international academic exchange.
UNALIN 2025 will feature plenary lectures, round tables, workshops,
oral presentations, and poster sessions, covering a wide spectrum of
topics such as:
(i) language change, phonology, and morphosyntax of languages
(ii) indigenous and creole languages
(iii) language documentation and description
(iv) language contact and multilingualism
(v) linguistic typology
(vi) language policy and revitalization
(vii) cognition and constructional approach
(viii) functional approaches to language
(ix) formal approaches to language
(x) lexicology
Confirmed keynote speakers and invited participants:
1) Prof. Dr. Jóhanna Barðdal (Ghent University, Belgium)
2) Prof. Dr. Marianne Mithun (University of California, Santa Barbara,
USA)
3) Prof. Dr. Salikoko S. Mufwene (University of Chicago, USA)
4) Prof. Dr. Dennis Albert Moore (Museu Paraense Emílio Goeldi,
Brazil)
5) Prof. Dr. Greville Corbett (University of Surrey, UK)
6) Prof. Dr. Ana Suelly Arruda Câmara Cabral (University of Brasília,
Brazil)
The working languages of the event will be Portuguese, Spanish, and
English, ensuring wide accessibility and participation from the
international linguistics community.
