Description:
The Faculty of Humanities, Social Sciences, and Theology at
Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU) invites
applications for a
Full Professor of German Language and Literature Education Research
(salary group W3)
at the Department of Subject-specific Education Research. This is a
full-time and permanent position to be filled by the earliest possible
starting date.
We seek to appoint an internationally recognized leader in German
language and literature education research. Specializing in German
language education research, the successful candidate will have
excellent credentials in empirical research into teaching and learning
(both quantitative and qualitative research). We expect experience in
interdisciplinary research with experts from other disciplines of
education research, education science / psychology or the subject of
German language and literature, as well as in acquiring prestigious
third-party funding, coupled with a willingness to establish
international partnerships. The professor will lecture in teaching
German at elementary school, middle school, secondary school, and
vocational schools (tailored to the German school system of
Grundschule, Mittelschule, Realschule, Gymnasium, and Berufschule),
and will be expected to participate in school internship programs. We
also expect the professor to become involved in the Center for Teacher
Education and in the fFaculty’s research focus areas.
The successful candidate will have an outstanding track record in
research and teaching. They are required to have a university degree
and a doctoral degree in a relevant discipline and additional
postdoctoral qualifications (either a habilitation or equivalent
academic qualifications). These qualifications may also have been
achieved in a non-university context or through a junior faculty
position (for example as Assistant Professor). In addition, the
successful candidate is required to be qualified to teach German and
have completed a minimum of three years teaching experience at a
school or comparable educational institution.
The successful candidate is expected to carry out administrative
duties and take a proactive approach to raising third-party funding.
