Description:
The Department of Linguistics at Seoul National University invites
applications for an open-rank, tenure-track position in Computational
Linguistics, with an expected start date of September 1, 2026. We seek
candidates whose research connects strongly with other areas of
linguistics and/or adjacent fields. We are particularly interested in
scholars working at the intersection of language theory and
computational technology, and who can contribute to both our general
linguistics and computational linguistics curricula. The successful
candidate will be expected to:
- Conduct and publish original research in areas including but not
limited to Speech and Natural Language Processing or Language
Acquisition.
- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Computational
Linguistics.
- Supervise student research and participate actively in departmental
and interdisciplinary initiatives related to language and AI.
- Contribute to service at the departmental, college, and university
levels.
Qualifications:
Applicants must possess a Ph.D. in Linguistics, Computer Science, or a
related field by the time of application deadline.
Application Instructions:
Applicants should submit a curriculum vitae, 2-4 original research
papers (journal publication or proceedings paper), research and
teaching plans, and contact information for at least three referees.
In addition, the application should include a personal statement
outlining the applicant’s research interests, previous achievements,
and plans, as well as the broader questions that this research
promises to engage with.

of applications wil begin on January 15, 2026. To ensure full
consideration, applications should be completed by this date.
