In 2021 we launched an international conference series in the field of
applied linguistics with English and Hungarian language sessions.
After our successful 2021 and 2023 conferences, we will organise the
conference Responsible Linguistics III again this year.
The aim of the conference is to present research that analyses
existing linguistic/language use/communication problems in society and
proposes realistic solutions to them using linguistic tools, in an
interdisciplinary approach, taking a broad interpretation of the
concept of applied linguistics. We are inviting scientific papers to
be presented at our conference on the theme of socially responsible
linguistics. The conference prioritizes less widely known topics of
applied linguistics and the research of still unknown (or not widely
known) linguistic dilemmas; moreover, it calls for innovative analyses
of known problems and the elaboration of solutions. Besides our
teacher-researcher colleagues, we are also encouraging applications
from PhD students. We are planning to organise thematic sections and
workshops/roundtables.
Possible conference themes include: researching communication
(manipulative language use, doctor-patient and teacher-student
communication, communication in emergency situations, etc.), forensic
linguistics, economics, healthcare, commerce, diplomacy, tourism,
sports, education, language rights, informatics, engineering, natural
sciences, aviation safety, etc.
Our invited keynote speakers are María Pilar Agustín Llach (University
of La Rioja), Elouise Botes (University of Luxembourg), and Zsófia
Demjén (University College London).
For details of the application process and registration, please visit
the conference webpage.
Deadline for submitting an abstract is 15 May. Deadline for abstract
evaluation is 15 June.
