Description:
National Research University Higher School of Economics (HSE

The Higher School of Economics is a young, dynamic and fast-growing
Russian research university. Over the past thirty years, HSE
University has become a leader in Russian education and has been
recognized internationally.
HSE University was the first state-run university in Russia to begin
recruiting on the international academic market. We proceed from the
understanding that the university, which responsibly approaches the
training of new professionals, should select as teachers people who
have real experience, as well as basic and applied knowledge.
Committed to high-quality research, HSE University now has more than
150 HSE research divisions, including 43 centres of excellence
collaborating with eminent professors from all over the world.
Disciplines
Assistant Professor in Linguistics.
Eligibility
The general requirements for the tenure track positions are the
following:
- Candidates must hold a recent PhD degree that is awarded within the
previous 5 years or received before starting work at HSE University in
one of the relevant disciplines by an international research
university and have been assessed by external reviewers as having a
potential to pursue research that is publishable in the top
peer-reviewed journals;
- Teaching experience at leading foreign universities is desirable;
- Knowledge of Russian is not required as research and teaching are
both conducted in English. Therefore, fluent English is an obligatory
requirement.
The hosting departments might have additional criteria.
Conditions
Tenure-track positions are only available on a full-time, residential
basis.
Generally appointments are made for an initial three-year period, and
upon successful completion of an interim review, contracts are
normally extended for a further three years until the tenure review.
The purpose of the review is to provide a tenure-track international
hire an opportunity to evaluate his or her activities throughout the
previous period and suggest areas for improvement to ensure a
possibility of a successful tenure review. All individual employment
conditions will be reflected in the offer letter.
HSE University provides excellent opportunities for international
faculty. The university offers a competitive salary, health insurance,
travel support, research assistance and other benefits. Since the
heavy emphasis is placed on the high quality research, the teaching
load of newly hired faculty is low.
