Languages have a central role in social transformation, promotion of
African values, and
assisting communities to confront the challenges of resilience and
sustainable development.
This is the main rationale that the Language Association of East
Africa (LAEA) is convinced
that the research work undertaken in our universities do help
individuals and organisations
understand and harness their powers of imagination, creativity, and
collaboration, to recreate
the world that we live in. The LAEA Conference is a prestigious event,
held in a different
country of the region and on a different theme every two years. It
hosts debates on current
development challenges and priorities in language and linguistic
sciences, with researchers and
practitioners from different fields. LAEA-1 Conference in 2019 and
LAEA-2 Conference in
2021 were held at Moi University in Kenya. LAEA-3, in 2023, was hosted
by Makerere
University in Uganda. LAEA-4, in 2025, is now inviting you to The
University of Dodoma in
Tanzania. The LAEA-4 Conference, expected to bring together over 300
language and
linguistics related professionals, provides an opportunity for
researchers to disseminate their
work, share their ideas, interact with renowned academics and
policymakers, and network
regionally and globally. The LAEA-4 Conference will take place from
August 13th–15th 2025.
