The Institute of Linguistics (Russian Academy of Sciences) is pleased
to announce the 11th conference "Language issues: a young scholars’
perspective", which will be held in person on 27–28 March 2025.
Exceptions can be made for valid reasons — please contact us at
smu at iling-ran.ru to discuss online attendance.
Abstracts on the following topics are welcome: theoretical
linguistics, comparative studies, descriptive linguistics, typology,
sociolinguistics, psycholinguistics, multimodal communication.
Invited speakers:
• Igor Isaev, PhD (Institute of Linguistics, RAS / Lomonosov Moscow
State University; co-host of the “Glagol’naya gruppa” (“Verb phrase”)
linguistic podcast)
• Alexander Podobryaev, PhD (HSE University)
We encourage young scholars to present the results of their work at
the conference. Young scholars mainly include undergraduate, Master’s
and PhD students studying linguistics. Submissions from "mature"
scholars under the age of 35 will be considered on a case-by-case
basis.
Young scholars are invited to present their research in the format of
a 20-minute talk (followed by 10 minutes of discussion). All
participants who have been accepted to present at the conference are
entitled to submit a paper to the conference proceedings.
The official languages of the conference are Russian and English.
Abstracts can be written in either language.
Application forms and anonymous abstracts should be submitted as two
separate documents to smu at iling-ran.ru (in .doc, .docx or .rtf format;
the application form is attached). We kindly ask you to indicate your
surname in the subject line of the email. The abstract must be
original and should not exceed 2000 characters (excluding
abbreviations and references), in .docx or .pdf format. Please make
sure that you cover the following points in the abstract: research
problem, data source, research methods and findings. One individual
may be involved in a maximum of two abstracts (maximum of one as a
sole author).
