Description:
Africa Computational Linguistics Summer School features courses,
workshops, coterie and ingathering from experts in the academia and
industry. Given the recent developments in technology, there has been
an increase in the need for linguists and language specialists to
develop and empower themselves.
Since Africa is positioned as one of the most diverse continents in
the world with growing population, it is important to build human
resources to help and enable native speakers to not only be consumers
of technological products but active participants. Not only does the
summer school target providing native speakers but also provides
necessary skills to linguists who desire to use their linguistics
skills in the industry. In response, Linguistics Island Community
founded Africa Computational Linguistics Summer School with the
purpose of empowering native speakers or researchers of Africa
languages.
