The Centre for Modern Languages (CML) is a diverse department offering
15 Asian and European languages (Arabic, Chinese, French, German,
Hindi, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Malay, Russian, Singapore Sign
Language, Spanish, Tamil, Thai and Vietnamese). The centre places
great importance on enhancing the intercultural knowledge and skills
of the learners as well as their linguistic competence.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching and Curriculum Development
- Deliver high-quality instruction in Chinese language courses across
proficiency levels.
- Contribute to the development and delivery of Business Chinese
courses.
- Integrate educational technology effectively into teaching
practice.
- Design and develop course syllabi, lesson plans, and instructional
materials independently.
Administrative Duties
- Coordinate Chinese language courses.
- Oversee and manage course registration and student enrollment
processes.
- Assist in planning and organizing language-related events or
programs.
- Support general administrative functions of the language teaching
unit as needed.
Requirements
- Master’s degree or above in Chinese Language Education, Applied
Linguistics, or a related field.
- Native proficiency in Mandarin Chinese; strong command of English,
both spoken and written to teach the course to multinational students.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience teaching Chinese as a foreign
language at the tertiary or equivalent level.
- Demonstrated ability to design curriculum and learning materials
independently.
- Experience in incorporating educational technology in language
teaching.
- Proven experience in teaching or developing courses in Business
Chinese is highly desirable.
- Strong organizational skills and willingness to take on
administrative duties.
