Subject: Edinburgh Theoretical Historical Linguistics - 2025 Seminar

Full Title: Edinburgh Theoretical Historical Linguistics - 2025
Seminar
Short Title: ETHL

Date: 16-Apr-2025 - 17-Apr-2025
Location: University of Edinburgh, United Kingdom

Linguistic Field(s): Historical Linguistics; Linguistic Theories;
Phonology; Syntax

Call Deadline: 14-Mar-2025

Call for Papers:
ETHL was conceived as a miniature summer school with four 2hr seminars
led by leading theoretical historical linguists, Laura Grestenberger,
Patrick Honeybone, Ranjan Sen, and George Walkden and a plenary talk
by Theresa Biberauer. Alongside these sessions we will host a student
'snap-talk' session.
We envision a snap-talk to be a theoretical version of a poster. Since
ETHL is just a two day event we had thought of including a poster
session but posters are not exactly amenable to theoretical work so we
have come up with the concept of a 'snap-talk' session. Each snap-talk
will be 10 minutes where you can present work at any stage of
completion (or even just an idea). The idea is that a snap-talk does
not need to be as polished as standard talk and will provide an
opportunity to share ideas and receive feedback on early stages of
theoretical historical linguistic work.
You can now submit you snap talk abstract via our website: ethl.uk
until 14th March 2025!
