Description:
The successful candidate will be responsible for the research area of
Multilingualism with a focus on typologically-oriented empirical
research. Complementary to the European languages researched at the
Faculty and the specialist area of Comparative European Linguistics
represented at the Department of Linguistics, this professorship has a
focus on non-European languages in research and teaching. Applicants
must therefore demonstrate academic experience with non-Indo-European
languages, as well as a track record in core areas of linguistics and
empirical research (e.g. field research, corpus linguistics,
experimental research).
The successful candidate will contribute to the interdisciplinary core
research area of Multilingualism, Migration and Cultural
Transformation at the Faculty of Humanities.
Employment requirements:
- Austrian or equivalent foreign higher education degree corresponding
with the position (doctorate/PhD)
- Habilitation or equivalent qualification in linguistics
- Outstanding academic qualifications in research and teaching in the
relevant discipline (commensurate with stage of academic career and
interruptions in employment due to caring responsibilities)
- Skills in higher education didactics including the use of digital
media
- Gender mainstreaming and diversity management skills
- Success in attracting subject-specific projects is preferred,
particularly where competitively awarded third-party funds are
concerned
- Skills in the supervision and guidance of early-stage researchers
- Professional experience abroad during academic career preferred
- Good knowledge of German and English
The successful candidate will be highly motivated, aiming for academic
excellence and integrity in research and teaching. He/she will have
demonstrated ability to collaborate constructively in a responsible
manner and inspire colleagues and students in an interdisciplinary,
internationally oriented context.

Classification: Salary scheme of the Collective Bargaining Agreement
for University Staff (Universitäten-KV): A1
Minimum salary: The minimum remuneration as stated in the Collective
Bargaining Agreement is EUR 92.460,20 gross per year. Salary subject
to negotiation.
