The Language Education and Multilingualism (LEM) Strand of ELINET is
pleased to announce the Call for Abstracts for the ELINET LEM Early
Career Researcher (ECR) Workshop, which will take place online through
Zoom on May 23, 2025. This workshop is an opportunity for ECRs in
language education and multilingualism to present their research to an
international academic audience, engage in discussions, receive
feedback, and connect with peers and experts. With this workshop, we
aim to promote multilingual education research and policy development
by engaging in interdisciplinary dialogue and encouraging
collaboration and professional networking.
Focus Themes:
1. Multilingual Education & Language Policy
2. Curriculum & Material Development for Multilingual Learners
3. Bilingual & Multilingual Literacy Development
4. Language Assessment & Teaching Strategies for Multilingual
Classrooms
Participation Criteria:
Early Career Researchers (PhD candidates and those who have submitted
their PhD within the past two years) working on multilingual
education, curriculum development, language policy, literacy, and
assessment are invited to submit an abstract. Abstracts will be
reviewed for originality, relevance to LEM themes, methodological
rigour, clarity of expression, and overall contribution to
multilingual education research.
Submission Guidelines:
All abstracts need to meet the following requirements: (250-300 words)
including a title (not more than 10 words), 3-5 keywords, and
references (up to 3 key citations in APA 7 format) as a single Word
document titled in the format “Abstract_Last Name”. Please use the
template included in the submission form.
Important Dates:
1. Abstract submission - 31 March, 2025
2. Acceptance notification - 25 April, 2025
3. Registration and slides submission - 15 May, 2025
4. Workshop date - 23 May, 2025
Workshop Structure:
Participants will deliver a 15-minute presentation of their research.
A 5-minute Q&A session will follow each presentation. All presenters
are required to attend the entire session and are encouraged to
participate in the Q&A discussions.
