The Department of English and Applied Linguistics (DEAL), Br. Andrew
Gonzalez FSC College of Education (BAGCED), De La Salle University, is
pleased to announce the conduct of the 5th International Conference on
Applied Linguistics and Language Education (ICALLE 2025) on August
28-30, 2025, at De La Salle University, Manila.
Following the success of past ICALLE conferences, ICALLE 2025 aims to
bring similar questions to the fore by facilitating a dynamic
discussion of the application of research in the many branches of
linguistics to language education. It aims to strengthen in the
language educator the interface between skill in the method and
practice of language teaching and information about theoretical and
methodological developments and issues concerning how languages such
as English are learned and taught. ICALLE2025 will lead discussions on
applied linguistics and language education, bringing together applied
linguists, language educators across levels, and graduate and
undergraduate students who teach or are involved in the teaching of
English or any other first or second language.
As a biennial conference, ICALLE aims to sustain this exchange of
ideas so that more research-based instructional practices could be
explored and developed.
Objectives
- To share findings of applied linguistic research and their
implications for and applications to language education in different
contexts across levels;
- To involve participants in discussions on innovations and current
developments in research and teaching in the field; and
- To establish meaningful networks for possible collaborations in
applied linguistics and language education.

panels. Individuals may submit a maximum of one abstract as primary
author (whether paper, poster, or themed panel), and one abstract as
non-primary author.
INDIVIDUAL PAPERS: Everyone is invited to submit a 300-word abstract
for parallel sessions. Papers are given 20-minute presentations and
10-minute Q&A. Detailed instructions on the submission guidelines can
be found on the website.
POSTERS: Poster presentations are excellent venues for face-to-face
discussions. They are especially effective for information that can be
presented visually (e.g. charts, graphs, tables, diagrams).
Specifications for the posters can be found on the website.

THEMED PANEL: Themed Panels allow for extended discussion on a
particular topic, which can be achieved through the organization of
individual presentations that revolve around the same area. Interested
themed panel organizers are invited to submit a 300-word abstract for
a two-hour block. Proposals for themed panels may include a minimum
of 4 papers and a maximum of 6. The organizers have the freedom to run
their own sessions (whether to have all presentations first then the
Q&A at the end or to have the Q&A after each presentation). The
organizers are responsible for inviting individual papers for their
topics and will liaise between the participants of the themed panel
and conference program committee.
Proposals should be sent as email attachment and send to:
