2025 Second Language Research Forum (SLRF) - Final Call for Proposals
Please join us in Flagstaff, Arizona, for SLRF 2025, which will take
place on September 25-28, 2025, and be hosted by the Applied
Linguistics program at Northern Arizona University.
SLRF 2025 invites submissions for poster and paper presentations
related to second language knowledge, broadly construed, including
(but not limited to) second language acquisition, L2 pedagogy,
bilingualism and multilingualism, language attrition, language
contact, second languages in the clinical setting, L2 assessment, and
teaching second/foreign languages.
Proposals are due March 31, 2025, at 11:59pm MST.

GUIDELINES FOR SUBMISSIONS
1. General submission instructions
-An author may submit only one paper or one poster as the first
author, but they may also be a presenter/co-author on additional
papers or posters. All documents submitted should be completely
anonymized, with all references to institutions and presenters
removed.
2. Instructions for individual papers or posters
-Individual paper sessions must be designed for a 20-minute
presentation followed by a 10-minute question/discussion period.
-Proposals for individual papers or posters should complete the
information in the submission form, including:
*A title (15 words maximum)
*Keywords (5 keywords maximum)
*An abstract (250 words maximum)
3. Evaluation of proposals
Only proposals submitted meeting the guidelines outlined above will be
evaluated. Those not meeting the criteria will be rejected. Proposals
for individual papers and posters will be evaluated using the
following criteria:
-Appropriateness and importance of the topic
-Research design or conceptual framework
-Organizational clarity
-Notification of acceptance
-Notifications to authors regarding proposal acceptance or rejection
will occur approximately mid-May 2025.

-Doug Biber, professor emeritus of Applied Linguistics at Northern
Arizona University
-Masatoshi Sato, professor of English at Universidad Andrés Bello
