Description:
The School of Languages, Linguistics, Literatures and Cultures at the
University of Calgary is seeking to fill a three-year Limited Term
Assistant Professor position in the Division of Linguistics beginning
on July 1, 2025. Applicants should have a specialization in generative
syntax, with expertise in experimental syntax, psycholinguistics
and/or neurolinguistics and an ability to teach senior level courses
in their area(s) of research.
Teaching duties will consist of two courses per semester for two
semesters per year and may include the following undergraduate courses
in the first year: introduction to linguistics, syntax I,
psycholinguistics, as well as a combined graduate and undergraduate
seminar in their area of research expertise, and other option courses.
There will also be a service load and opportunities to work with
graduate students who are writing MA theses and Ph.D. candidacy papers
and dissertations. The University of Calgary is a research-intensive
institution, and the successful candidate for this position will have
the opportunity to continue their research program while meeting the
responsibilities of the position.
Candidates must possess a Ph.D. in Linguistics or a closely related
field. Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated
experience and expertise in teaching, and a record of research
excellence.
