There’s still time to submit your proposal for this year’s series,
which runs weekly throughout July and August. We welcome contributions
from researchers:
-- Based in Ireland (north or south)
-- With personal or professional ties to Ireland
-- Or working on discourse within the Irish context
As always, submissions are welcome from researchers at all stages of
their academic journey – including postgraduate students, independent
scholars, and senior academics. If this is your first time submitting
to DRAOI or sharing work in progress, we especially encourage your
participation.

The Discourse Research Association of Ireland (DRAOI) is excited to
announce the return of our Summer Seminar Series for its fifth
consecutive year, scheduled for July and August 2025. We are now
accepting proposals for presentations for this year’s series.
In keeping with DRAOI’s inclusive ethos and the diverse research
interests of our membership, we welcome submissions that focus on
discourse research in all its forms. Topics of interest include, but
are not limited to:
 - (Critical) Discourse Analysis/Studies
 - Discourse Theory
 - Sociolinguistics
 - Pragmatics
 - (Social) Semiotics
 - Multimodal and/or Digital Discourses
 - Discourse, Language, and Ideology
 - Discourse in specific subject areas, such as economics, gender and
sexuality, policy, government and politics, media, education,
industry, sustainability and climate change, ethics, sociology,
psychology, communication, and more.
The Summer Seminar Series provides a collegial and informal space for
discourse researchers to share their work, connect with like-minded
scholars, and engage in stimulating discussions on a wide variety of
topics. Presenters can expect constructive and supportive feedback in
a positive, collaborative setting.
The format for presentations may vary depending on the submissions
received and could include:
 - An overview of a planned or in-progress research project, or a
summary of findings
 - A book talk (at any stage of production)
 - A summary of a recent publication
 - A conference presentation (including those presented elsewhere)
 - A workshop or tutorial on a specific disciplinary or methodological
approach to discourse research
 - An overview of a master's or PhD thesis
 - Creative proposals are also encouraged
As in previous years, we give priority to submissions from discourse
researchers based in Ireland (north and south), those with personal or
professional ties to Ireland, or those focusing on discourses within
the Irish context. We also encourage submissions from researchers at
all career stages and from diverse backgrounds, including postgraduate
researchers, independent scholars, and senior academics.

abstract of 200-300 words by the extended deadline, 31 May 2025, via
