Description:
The Department of Applied Linguistics invites applicants for a
12-month Instructional Limited Term Faculty Appointment (LTA) at the
rank of Assistant Professor to commence September 1, 2025. This is a
full-time teaching intensive position. The successful candidate will
be expected to teach eight courses in areas related to applied
linguistics and/or speech sciences during the period of appointment.
While these courses will primarily be at the undergraduate level,
there may be a possibility of also teaching a graduate level course.
Our department offers programs of study leading to Honours Bachelor of
Arts (BA) degrees in Applied Linguistics/Teaching English as a Second
Language, and Speech Language and Hearing Sciences, as well as an MA
in Applied Linguistics/TESL.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will have completed a PhD (ABD may be
considered) in Applied Linguistics or a related discipline (e.g.,
Speech-Language Pathology, Communication Disorders, Speech & Hearing
Sciences, TESL, Second Language Acquisition). Applicants are expected
to have a record of successful teaching and research experience in one
or more of the following areas: speech language and hearing sciences;
communication disorders; applied linguistics; TESL. Applicants with an
academic background focused on TESL should also have experience
teaching ESL to adult learners.
