Dear Colleagues,
I am Ayşegül Okumuş, a Ph.D. candidate at the Department of English
Language Teaching at Middle East Technical University. I am conducting
a dissertation study under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Perihan Savaş,
and I would like to invite you to participate in this research.
Title of Study:
Exploring the Affordances and Constraints of Artificial Intelligence
in Language Teacher Education
Purpose:
This study aims to examine the affordances and constraints of
Artificial Intelligence (AI) from the perspectives of:
In-service language teachers
Language teacher educators
Pre-service language teachers
Language learners
In addition, participants’ views on the needs of pre-service language
teachers will be investigated to inform the development of a framework
for integrating AI into language teacher education.
Participation Involves:
Completing three online surveys (30–35 minutes in total)
Participating in a semi-structured interview (35–45 minutes) conducted
in English via Microsoft Teams
All interviews will be audio-recorded with consent, for transcription
and data analysis purposes
Ethical Considerations:
Participation is voluntary, and you may withdraw at any point without
consequences
No personally identifying information will be collected in interviews
All data will be kept confidential and used solely for academic
purposes
Eligibility:
We welcome participation from in-service and pre-service language
teachers, teacher educators, and language learners with an interest in
or experience with AI in language education.
