Description:
In our project, “Knowledge Networks in Medieval Romance Speaking
Europe – ALMA”, we are offering a PostDoc position in the field of
historical linguistics of French (Old French, Middle French).
The tasks primarily include the creation of digital text editions in
Old and Middle French (on medicine and law) and lexicological /
lexicographical work: The text editions are compiled into text corpora
and initially analyzed using quantitative corpus linguistic methods;
on this basis, lexical-semantic studies on the terminology of the
texts are edited using qualitative methods of lexicology and
lexicography, which examine the development of vernacular languages
into languages of knowledge and scholarship.
The requirements include:
- a Doctoral degree in Romance linguistics (Old-/Middle French),
- a profound knowledge of historical lexicology or lexicography,
- very good knowledge of Modern French and English, both spoken and
written.
The project also focuses on digital humanities, artificial
intelligence, and semantic web technologies. Knowledge of or affinity
for digital methods is therefore very welcome.
The position (salary TV-L 13 of the state of Baden-Württemberg) is
limited until 12/2028.
We look forward to receiving applications by committed and
team-oriented researchers.
Applicants with disabilities and equal qualifications will be given
preferential consideration.
